AKG is proud to announce that it has been awarded a new contract by Warwickshire County Council to deliver Destination Work, a programme aimed at supporting economically inactive and unemployed residents across the entire county of Warwickshire. The programme is commissioned by Warwickshire Skills Hub and funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), with delivery beginning from 2 June 2025 and running until 31 March 2026.
This follows the successful initial delivery of Destination Work by AKG under its former name, Jobs 22, between October 2024 and March 2025. Now operating as AKG, the organisation will again be supported by trusted delivery partners PET-Xi and Coventry and Warwickshire Community Development Agency (CWCDA) to provide a comprehensive, locally rooted service.
Helping people overcome barriers and move towards employment
The programme supports adults aged 25–67 who are either economically inactive (60%) or unemployed (40%). Through a combination of one-to-one coaching, group sessions, and specialist referrals, participants will receive tailored help to build confidence, develop new skills, and take steps towards sustainable employment.
Each participant will work with a dedicated Journey Guide to identify personal goals and challenges, and create an action plan designed to help them progress. The programme also includes employability workshops, job clubs, digital and financial literacy training, and referrals to services such as mental health support and travel training.
Community-focused delivery
AKG and its partners will deliver the programme through local venues across all five borough and district council areas of Warwickshire – including North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Warwick, and Stratford-on-Avon. This community-based approach ensures support is accessible, especially for residents in rural or isolated locations.
- Coventry and Warwickshire CDA will deliver in Nuneaton and Bedworth
- PET-Xi will deliver in Warwick District
- AKG will deliver in Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon, and North Warwickshire
Samantha Saunders, Head of Operations at AKG, said:
“We’re excited to build on our successful delivery of the initial phase of Destination Work. Expanding this programme countywide under the AKG brand allows us to reach even more people who need support to get closer to work. We look forward to working with our partners and Warwickshire Skills Hub to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Councillor George Finch, Interim Leader at Warwickshire County Council, said:
“One of our key priorities at Warwickshire is to create a skilled workforce and support our residents into employment. We are pleased to continue our partnerships to deliver Destination Work across the county.
“The programme plays a vital role in helping residents move forward with confidence, providing them with the support they need to prepare for and secure meaningful employment.”
Funded for impact
The programme is backed by £399,530 in UKSPF funding and is expected to support more than 200 participants through a mix of individual and group-based interventions. Performance targets include a range of outcomes across all boroughs, with regular monitoring and review to ensure impact is delivered in line with funding criteria.
