Finding Calm at Christmas: Why Seasonal Wellbeing Matters More Than Ever

By November 17, 2025No Comments

For many people, Christmas is described as a joyful break, a chance to really slow down, reconnect and celebrate. But the reality is often more complicated. The festive season can amplify pressures that sit quietly beneath the surface for much of the year. Financial strain feels sharper. Social expectations feel heavier. Loneliness feels more visible. Anxiety and low mood can deepen without warning.

At AKG Health, we see these experiences every day. And we know one truth. Christmas wellbeing isn’t a luxury. For many, it’s a lifeline.

That’s why we’re hosting an open Christmas support webinar on Tuesday 2 December, designed to offer reassurance, calm and practical guidance at a time when it’s needed most.

Why Christmas Wellbeing Support Matters

Seasonal wellbeing is often misunderstood. Many assume that if someone is struggling during December, they’re simply “not in the Christmas spirit.” But what people experience at this time of year goes beneath seasonal cheer. It speaks to mental health, emotional resilience and the ability to cope with layered pressures all at once.

Financial stress, grief resurfacing, uncertainty around relationships and the relentless comparison triggered by social media can turn a celebratory period into something overwhelming. These experiences don’t discriminate. They affect participants, learners, colleagues, parents, carers and young people alike.

Recognising this is the first step towards offering meaningful support.

A Space for Calm: AKG Health’s Christmas Support Webinar

Our Christmas support webinar has been designed to bring a sense of steadiness into a season that can feel anything but steady. Led by Carly Davies-Jones, Occupational Therapist and Health Coach, and Kirsty Coulston, Team Facilitator specialising in emotional wellbeing, the session gently explores the real challenges people face in December.

Together, they will address areas many people silently struggle with:

• emotional wellbeing during Christmas
• money stress and budgeting in a cost-of-living climate
• coping with loneliness, grief and social pressure
• understanding the impact of social media at Christmas
• managing anxiety, stress and low mood
• finding connection and reassurance
• accessing practical resources and support

Their approach is warm, grounded and deeply human. For both Carly and Kirsty, wellbeing isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about offering tools that empower people to feel more capable, more understood and more prepared for the weeks ahead.

How Emotional Wellbeing Connects to Work, Learning and Everyday Life

One of the principles we return to often at AKG is that health and work cannot be separated – and our employment support services reflect this integrated approach. Emotional wellbeing directly affects a person’s capacity to engage in learning, attend appointments, sustain employment and maintain confidence in themselves. When wellbeing wobbles, everything else wobbles with it.

The festive period intensifies this. Many people feel pressure to “hold it together” while navigating work commitments, family dynamics, financial strain and emotional triggers. This webinar isn’t about adding more to the list. It’s about removing pressure and creating a space for grounding, honesty and support before Christmas arrives in full.

Who the Christmas Webinar Is For

One of the real strengths of this session is its openness. It’s for anyone who feels the weight of December, including participants, learners, AKG colleagues, people on ITS programmes, friends, family and anyone in the wider community who might need a moment of grounding. There are no limits, no screening and no pressure to be anything other than yourself; simply a space to breathe and be held with care.
