Our ESOL for Work courses are designed for unemployed individuals with little or no English skills in speaking, reading, or writing. They help learners communicate confidently with different people.

We offer courses at Pre-Entry, Entry Level 1, 2, and 3, depending on your needs. A key part of the programme is employability skills, including job searching and interview techniques. Our aim is to equip you with the confidence and skills to find and secure meaningful employment.

Course overview

What's included

ESOL for Work at Entry Level 1 is our course for complete beginners. Participants will likely have very little speaking, reading and writing ability in English. Each week we will cover different aspects of speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar and functions.

Participants at Entry Level 2 will have some experience with reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. They may not feel completely confident in their abilities to communicate for work and in day-to-day life. ESOL for Work at Entry Level 2 is also suitable for existing participants who have completed Entry Level 1 in ESOL.

Participants at Entry Level 3 will have significant experience with reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. They may want to increase their confidence in their abilities to communicate for work and in day-to-day life. ESOL for Work at Entry Level 3 is also suitable for existing participants who have completed Entry Level 2 in ESOL for Work.

Maths and English

There are no entry requirements for ESOL courses. You will need to have access to the internet as classes are held on Zoom.

Progression

Our aim is to empower participants with the skills and confidence to find a suitable work placement or volunteer role. On completion, they can progress onto a Functional Skills course in English or to a suitable apprenticeship programme.
