Celebrating Volunteering Across AKG

As Volunteers’ Week is celebrated across the UK, AKG is recognising the contribution colleagues continue to make in communities through volunteering, community projects and charitable initiatives.

So far in 2026, AKG colleagues have contributed 231 volunteering hours to local causes and organisations, already surpassing the total number of volunteering hours recorded across the whole of 2025.

The milestone reflects AKG’s ongoing commitment to social value and community impact, with colleagues encouraged to use dedicated volunteering time to support causes that matter to them.

Supporting communities through volunteering

Throughout the year, colleagues have taken part in a variety of volunteering opportunities, supporting organisations and projects that make a tangible difference in local communities.

Recent volunteering activities have included supporting Community Together CIC in Tamworth, helping improve community spaces for local residents, volunteering with CPRE Herefordshire on environmental conservation projects, and spending time at Willowdene Rehabilitation Farm, an organisation that supports the rehabilitation of offenders through farming, education and wellbeing programmes.

Each project has provided an opportunity for colleagues to contribute their time and skills while supporting organisations working to create positive change.

The wider value of volunteering

Volunteering benefits more than the communities being supported. It also helps individuals build confidence, develop new skills, strengthen relationships and gain a greater sense of purpose.

Jo Van, Social Impact Manager at AKG UK, has used her volunteering days to support a range of projects, including environmental initiatives, community improvement work and rehabilitation programmes.

Reflecting on her experiences, she said:

“Every experience has been completely different, but all equally rewarding.”

Her experience reflects the wider impact volunteering can have, creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect with their communities while supporting causes that align with their values.

Building social value across the UK

Volunteering forms an important part of AKG’s wider approach to social value. By supporting colleagues to engage with community projects and charitable organisations, AKG aims to create positive and lasting impact beyond its day-to-day services.

With more volunteering days already planned throughout the year, the organisation hopes to continue building on the progress made so far in 2026 and support even more community initiatives across the UK.

As Volunteers’ Week highlights the importance of giving back, AKG would like to thank every colleague who has already dedicated their time, energy and expertise to supporting communities this year.

Volunteering is just one part of AKG’s wider commitment to creating positive social impact. Explore our Social Value work to learn more about how we’re supporting communities across the UK.
