AKG UK has been featured in a new publication from the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), spotlighting innovative approaches to supporting ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) participants within the ReAct programme. The report, “ReAct innovative practice case studies: supporting ESOL participants,” examines how providers across the UK are designing and delivering effective ESOL support that enables learners to build confidence, progress in their language skills and move closer to meaningful employment.
Our ESOL Provision Featured as a Case Study
Within the IES publication, AKG’s internal ESOL delivery model is highlighted as one of the case studies. The feature outlines how our approach helps participants develop the language, confidence and practical skills required to navigate everyday life and the workplace. It also explores how our teams work with learners to remove barriers, support progression and create a positive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
This recognition reflects the hard work of our delivery teams and the commitment across AKG Learning to ensuring that learners who speak English as an additional language receive high-quality, flexible and supportive provision.
Why This Research Matters
The IES report forms part of a wider effort to understand what works for ESOL learners within the ReAct and Restart ecosystem. Many ESOL participants face complex challenges that can make employment support more difficult to access. By highlighting effective practice, the research aims to support providers, commissioners and policy leads in shaping approaches that are inclusive, person-centred and responsive to local needs.
IES also emphasises the importance of ESOL provision in improving confidence, reducing social isolation and helping learners take meaningful steps towards work, education or community involvement – outcomes that align closely with AKG’s mission and the values underpinning our programmes.
Strengthening Sector Knowledge Through Collaboration
Our inclusion in this national research brings visibility to the expertise within our organisation and to the positive impact of our ESOL teams across AKG. It also reinforces the importance of collaboration across the ReAct partnership and the role shared learning plays in strengthening employment support for all participants.
By contributing to this study, AKG shares its practical insight and continues to support broader thought leadership within the sector. This aligns with our commitment to improving quality, championing evidenced based practice and contributing to the national conversation on how to deliver the best possible outcomes for learners.
