We are pleased to share another important milestone for AKG UK, with Intuitive Thinking Skills (ITS) awarded a new contract by Peterborough City Council to support the development of a new local Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO).
The award builds on ITS’s extensive experience of delivering lived experience-led and community-based services and represents an important opportunity to help create sustainable recovery infrastructure within Peterborough.
The new LERO service will bring together people with lived experience, communities and local partners to strengthen peer support and recovery networks, create volunteering, employment and skills opportunities, promote harm reduction and social connection, and ensure people with lived experience have a meaningful voice in shaping the services and support available within their community.
Importantly, this is about much more than delivering a contract. ITS will act as the lead organisation supporting the development of the LERO, with the longer-term ambition of creating a fully independent, community-led and sustainable organisation for Peterborough by 2030.
This approach reflects our wider ambition across AKG UK, using the expertise and experience within our businesses to respond to local need, strengthen communities and create sustainable impact that can continue beyond the lifetime of an individual contract.
The award also demonstrates the unique role that ITS plays within the wider AKG group. With lived experience embedded throughout its history and approach, ITS brings a deep understanding of how people can use their own experiences, strengths and skills to create meaningful change for others.
We are looking forward to seeing ITS work alongside Peterborough City Council, local partners and Peterborough’s lived experience community to build a strong recovery network and, ultimately, an independent organisation with the foundations to continue making a difference for many years to come.
