New partnership will help Buckinghamshire residents develop the skills needed to access employment and progress their careers.
AKG Learning has been selected by Buckinghamshire Council to deliver training through its Skills for Work programme, helping residents gain the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to move into employment or take the next step in their careers.
The programme forms part of Buckinghamshire Council‘s commitment to creating a strong, inclusive and responsive skills system that enables residents to fulfil their potential while supporting local employers with the skilled workforce they need. Working alongside trusted training providers, the Council is investing in learning opportunities that respond directly to local labour market needs and create clear pathways into sustainable employment.
As part of the programme, AKG Learning will deliver Business Administration training, supporting adults who are looking to enter office-based roles, return to work, or develop the transferable skills employers are increasingly looking for across a wide range of industries.
The partnership reflects the growing importance of adult skills development across Buckinghamshire. The Council’s Skills and Employment Strategy identifies that more than 26,900 working-age residents have no formal qualifications, while over 13,000 economically inactive residents want to work but require additional support to overcome barriers. The strategy also highlights the need to strengthen work-ready skills and improve access to high-quality vocational training that meets employer demand.
Nationally, the Government’s Employer Skills Survey continues to show that employers place significant value on vocational and technical skills, with businesses identifying ongoing skills shortages and the importance of investing in workforce development to improve productivity and fill vacancies.
